Micah Lussier, one of the contestants on season four of the Netflix reality dating series Love Is Blind, is facing backlash for her behavior on the show.
The 27-year-old Seattle-based marketing manager earned the title of villain due to her catty alliance with her bestie Irina Solomonova during the first few episodes of the season, which premiered on March 24.
Micah and Irina’s behavior on the show caused quite a stir among viewers, who were quick to criticize them for their treatment of the other contestants, particularly Bliss Poureetezadi, who had also formed a connection with Irina’s top choice, Zach Goytowski. Micah and Irina were accused of laughing at the misery of the other women on the show.
In response to the criticism, Micah took to social media on March 28 to apologize for her actions. “To the viewers that I’ve hurt, I’m sorry I’ve triggered so many of you with my behavior,” Micah wrote on her Instagram Stories. “Seeing that person on the screen would make me feel the same anger.”
She went on to say that she had apologized privately to the people that were hurt on the show by her hands, and that she wanted to apologize publicly as well. “An emotional immaturity was shown and I will grow from it,” she wrote.
Micah also addressed claims that she was shielding herself from criticism by having her Instagram comments turned off. “I will turn them on in time,” she wrote. “I am doing my best to protect my mental health (deserved or not). It has always been something I’ve struggled with, and I know I can not better myself if I’m more unwell mentally. I hope you understand that I am taking accountability privately.”
While some viewers appreciated Micah’s apology and willingness to take responsibility for her actions, others remain skeptical.
