Kelly Clarkson recently shared with E! News host Adrienne Bailon-Houghton the reason behind her virtual interview with the legendary singer, Cher. The interview, which aired on a December 2022 episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” was meant to be conducted in person. However, due to Kelly testing positive for COVID-19, she had to quarantine at home and video conference in for the interview.
In her interview with E! News, Kelly expressed her disappointment over not being able to interview Cher in person. She said, “I found out I had COVID and I was feeling fine at first. I was like, ‘Wait, what? It came back positive?’ And the first thing that hit me is I’m not going to be able to interview her, because I was so excited.”
Despite the setback, Cher was understanding and gracious, opting to proceed with the interview via video conference instead of canceling. Kelly was in awe of Cher’s professionalism and called her “incredible.”
The two had met before at the Kennedy Center Honors, and Kelly had nothing but praise for the Oscar-winning singer, calling her “so cool and lovely.”
During the virtual interview, Kelly and Cher discussed the latter’s iconic fashion looks throughout the decades, as well as highlights from her impressive 60-year career. Despite not being able to meet in person, the interview was a success and provided viewers with an in-depth look at Cher’s life and career.
Kelly vowed to have Cher on the show again in the future, this time in person. In the meantime, fans can tune in to E! News’ “Kelly Clarkson takeover” special, which will air on April 3 at 11 p.m. The show will look back at some of Kelly’s biggest episodes, including her interview with Cher.
