Bholaa Box Office Total Collection: Ajay Devgn Starrer Drops Further Despite Positive Reviews

Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated movie, Bholaa, which released on 24th March, is not living up to the box office expectations. Although it is still early to comment, the film has seen a significant dip in its collection on Day 2 itself, which is not good news for the film. Given that the movie is mounted on a huge scale, it cannot afford to perform poorly in the collection department.

Directed by Ajay Devgn himself, Bholaa is an official remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi, which starred Karthi in the lead role. As the original movie is considered a masterpiece and has already been watched by many in the Hindi belt, Ajay’s version of the movie is going through a lot of comparisons. This is leading to unnecessary negativity, despite the film being a good offering.

On the first day of its release, Bholaa opened to a decent collection of 11.20 crores. Given the holiday factor and the success of Ajay’s previous film Drishyam 2, the expectations were much higher. However, the film’s opening day collection was still considered decent in the post-pandemic era. The need of the hour was to maintain a steady collection and avoid a significant drop on Day 2.

Unfortunately, the movie saw a significant drop in collections on its second day, which is alarming for the makers. Although 10 crores were not expected, a collection of 9 crores or slightly more was much needed to maintain the momentum. However, the movie failed to achieve even that. The fall was a bit high, even if one considers it was a working day.

Despite the movie receiving positive reviews from the critics and the audience, it seems like the comparisons with the original movie are affecting its performance at the box office. It remains to be seen if the movie will be able to pick up in the coming days and perform well at the box office.
